It is October and this is the time when the monsoons smash the clouds in Chennai. This is the time,we Chennaiites who have been experiencing the scorching effect of the Sun during the "Kathri veyil" season ,get to see some rain drops pattering on the ground...These rainy days remind me of the time when I was a student when arrival of the rain used to be a harbinger of good news for all of us and that much awaited news used to be a holiday...We used to storm towards the TV and look out for the catchy flash news..And when the announcement for what we wished for used to come, there used be no limits for the joy...Lol...The best moments were those when we surprisingly used to get holidays consecutively for a couple of days and when we used to watch out for such moments with curiosity....Those were the days when"Rain,Rain go away, come again another day" was a rhyme which was merely to utter but did not matter much to our heart.....Even when we used to be at school, the sudden showers used to make all of us turn our heads towards the window and whisper with joy,"Hey look...Its raining,Its raining".
The rain drops clinging on to the leaves of the tiny saplings has always been a good photograph to capture.Lots of good news and lots of anxiety and lots of awe was what the rain meant to us when we were kids. And today, rain is looked upon from a different perspective. This time,it was raining on the day of Diwali and many blamed the rain for spoiling their time to burst crackers. The rain makes it difficult to buy vegetables.Heading for office makes one think when the rain will stop. The stagnant water makes us prefer long jump to walking. The autowalas in Chennai hike their charges for a ride.Driving vehicles with ease is irksome.
”Rain, rain go away…Come again, another day”-The KG rhyme would better fit to responsible, grown ups who are more worried about its' presence….What an irony!!!!
